Tourism in Colombia has experienced remarkable growth in recent years, and 2023 marked a significant milestone in this upward trend. On December 29 of that year, Colombia received its tourist number of 5.5 million, a historical record that reflects a growth of 44.4% compared to the previous year, according to data from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Tourism (MinCIT). This milestone is not only an impressive figure but also an indicator of the country鈥檚 potential and attraction as a tourist destination.

Behind this success is the joint work of the National Government, the private sector, and local communities. Sustainability is key to this tourism growth. As a sustainability consultant, we are proud to have collaborated with the Bogot谩 Chamber of Commerce on a program to train tourism businesses in sustainable practices.

The Role of Simbiotic Sustainability Consultant

In this scenario of historic achievements, Simbiotic has played a fundamental role. With more than 18 years of experience in the field of strategic sustainability consulting, we have led this program with a clear vision of coherence and commitment to sustainable development. Our collaboration with the Bogota Chamber of Commerce has been key to promoting sustainable tourism as a development and growth strategy.

This program goes beyond simply promoting sustainable practices; it focuses on promoting sustainable tourism as a long-term development strategy. Through awareness and training, we have supported more than 50 organizations in Bogota and the region, providing them with the necessary tools to integrate sustainability into their business model. This not only benefits the environment and local communities but also improves the competitiveness and reputation of companies in an increasingly conscious market.

Coherent Marketing and Differential Added Value

In addition, we have advised these companies on coherent marketing practices, highlighting its commitment to sustainability. This not only attracts conscious tourists but also enhances Colombia鈥檚 image as a sustainable destination.

Conclusion

The tourist record in Colombia in 2023 is more than a figure; it is a symbol of hope and progress. It encourages us to remain committed to sustainable tourism and to work together to build a more prosperous and equitable future for all in Colombia.
